Caribou - Sun from the album Swim (2010)
Exams are a bitch and the word ‘stress’ becomes almost synonymous with the word. How does one relieve their stress? Some may do it but meditating, but I on the other hand do it with my good friend weed. I had the privilege not only to smoke up a couple nights ago as a ‘de-stressor’, but also to trip out to this song right here. I recommend toking up a few before listening to this, but even without the weed it’s a good song.
Broken Social Scene - Water in Hell from the album Forgiveness Rock (2010)
I don’t even think I need to say again why I’m still posting up BSS songs, but I guess I’ll say it - the new album is f***ing amazing! This one’s employs more of that classic distortion sound which definitely receives my seal of approval! I think I’ll probably upload most of the new BSS songs in a week or so…so ye enjoy!
Broken Social Scene - Love and Mathematics from the album Feel Good Lost (2001)
Well folks, it’s pretty obvious that I’m on that Broken Social Scene cloud yet again and to continue off from the last song I posted, here’s an old classic from their debut album Feel Good Lost. This has to be by far my most favourite song to listen to on any occasion you can imagine - studying, walking aimlessly around campus, on the bus, smoking a joint, and the list goes on. This song - at least for me - has an uncanny ability to calm the nerves, stimulate the mind, and arouse the aural senses all at the same time. This again just goes to show how unique and awesome BSS is. Viva BSS!
Broken Social Scene - Romance to the Grave from the album Forgiveness Rock (2010)
As much as I respect the recording and production process each artist undergoes, I rarely purchase any cds or vinyls from the artists I listen to. Yes I know, I’m cheap but to justify my decisions, I feel that in this new age of the Internet, the accessibility of media- music, tv and film- is at its all time high and probably will keep rising if more people know about bit torrents and how to actually find and use them! Therefore modern day artists are subjected to both a more immediate round of public critique and also a much wider audience, which means they gotta step up and prove themselves worthy. Internet rap sensation Drake did it, and so did the Arctic Monkeys. The question is, can BSS do it despite this apparently early leak of their highly anticipated album, Forgiveness Rock? Well just listen to the song and you’ll get your answer.
Surfer Blood - Floating Vibes from the album Astrocoast (2010)
To be quite honest, I didn’t like these guys at first but after a couple of random listens thanks to the trusty ‘shuffle’ mode via iTunes/iPhone, the poppy Weezer-esque like sound grew on me. It straight up reminds of summer time, which I’m so fucking looking forward to! Anyways, go check out their album! Meanwhile, I’ll be studying/shooting myself for the next couple of weeks.
